Power Moment Wednesday

Do Not Be Ashamed: Lesson Romans 1:6

Introduction:
In the book of Romans, the apostle Paul writes to the Christians in Rome about the power of the gospel and the importance of living a life that reflects their faith. In chapters 1 and 6, Paul addresses the idea of not being ashamed of the gospel and the call to live a life of holiness and righteousness.

Lesson Objectives:

  • To understand the importance of not being ashamed of the gospel
  • To explore how to live a life of holiness and righteousness
  • To apply the lessons from Romans 1 and 6 to our own lives

Scripture Reading:

  • Romans 1:16-17: “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes…”
  • Romans 6:12-14: “Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires…”

EMBRACE:

  1. Not being ashamed of the gospel:
  • Paul starts off his letter to the Romans by declaring that he is not ashamed of the gospel. Why do you think it is important for us as Christians to not be ashamed of our faith?
  • How can we overcome feelings of shame or fear when it comes to sharing our faith with others?
  1. Living a life of holiness and righteousness:
  • In Romans 6, Paul talks about the importance of living a life that is set apart from sin and dedicated to God. How can we strive to live a life of holiness and righteousness in today’s world?
  • What are some practical ways we can resist sin and temptation in our daily lives?

APPLICATION:

  • Reflect on your own life and consider if there are areas where you may be feeling ashamed or struggling to live a life of holiness and righteousness. Take some time to pray and ask God for strength and guidance in these areas.
  • Think about how you can share the gospel with others in a bold and unashamed way. Look for opportunities to share your faith with those around you, whether through your words or actions.

CONCLUSION:
Let us be encouraged to not be ashamed of the gospel and to live a life that honors God. May we strive to be bold in our faith and to walk in holiness and righteousness, knowing that God is with us every step of the way.
