Beloved, the Bible is full of stories about people who try to live to God’s glory – with ups and downs. Elijah is such a man. He is a prophet who serves God wholeheartedly, but is also prone to despondency and depression. He confronts the king fearlessly, but flees from the queen. And in all this, God continues to care for His servant.Elijah’s life and ministry provide several valuable lessons for us TODAY: The Importance of Prayer: Elijah’s fervent PRAYERS led to significant outcomes, including the cessation of rain and the subsequent rain that restored the land. His prayer life emphasizes the power and importance of prayer.Understanding Human Weakness: After his victory on Mount Carmel, Elijah fled in fear from Jezebel and felt overwhelmed and alone. This illustrates that even strong leaders can experience fear and VULNERABILITY highlighting the need for support and encouragement.Listening to God’s Voice: In the experience at Mount Horeb, Elijah learned that God’s presence is not always found in dramatic events but often in a gentle whisper, teaching the importance of STILLNESS and LISTENING for God’s guidance.Legacy of Discipleship: Elijah mentored Elisha, illustrating the importance of raising up future leaders.
